The first-ever Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Xyz event officially kicked off on Thursday. Players will be dueling against other players in this xyz monster-only format with a unique ban list and a lot of generous rewards. The event is available now and will last through the end of Wednesday, February 23 which gives players about a week to play in the event. Here are all the details about the Yu-Gi-Oh! Format
The format for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s first-ever event is pretty simple. The Xyz festival is not a tournament mode or anything like that. Instead, players will be able to queue up for exhibition matches that will match them against other duelists.
These matches do not count towards the standard ranked mode. Instead, in these matches players are playing for medals. The winning player will receive 100 medals for each win and the losing player will receive 50. Players will collect these medals so they can complete the rewards progression tracker. The more medals a player earns the more rewards they will receive.
There is a twist though. In this format, players use Xyz monsters in the extra deck. Konami has put together an alternative ban list for this format that bans all extra cards that are not xyz monsters. Also, Konami has preemptively banned decks that aim to abuse this format like Drytron and Eldlich. The game’s event menu has an extensive banlist that shows what can and cannot be played.
If players do not have an Xyz-focused deck built, do not worry as Konami has provided players three different “loaner” decks that they can use instead. However, reward medals are halved if they use one of these decks.
Rewards
The Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Xyz Festival is very generous when it comes to rewards. Through the progression tab in the event menu, players will be able to earn around 2500 gems for completing the mission track. But on top of that, players can earn another 1500 gems through missions. Since these count as “exhibition duels” the missions the state “do x in an exhibition duel” in the limited missions tab will be easy to complete. Those rewards will net players an extra 1720 gems.
Finally, there are the legacy pack tickets that players can earn from the rewards track as well. Players will earn a total of 30 legacy pack tickets throughout the event. They will also earn additional “Xyz reward tickets.” These are essentially the same as legacy packs but have a heavy emphasis on xyz monsters.
