Gunfight is one of the most popular game modes from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), and its return has been confirmed. However, fans of Gunfight were slightly disappointed to hear that the mode won’t be coming to Modern Warfare 2 at launch.
Back in June, Activision confirmed that Gunfight wouldn’t arrive until after launch on Oct. 28. This threw the mode’s release date into question, which still has not been officially confirmed.
Although, with yesterday’s leak that seemingly confirmed when Season 1 and Warzone 2 will release, we might have a better idea of when Gunfight could launch. The leak from yesterday unofficially confirmed that Warzone 2 will be releasing on Nov. 16. It stands to reason that this is also when the Season 1 update in Modern Warfare 2 will launch. For the past two years, the first large Warzone update of the new year coincided with the release of the first season for the newest COD title.
Leak reveals possible release date for Gunfight in Modern Warfare 2
While the Season 1 update has still yet to be officially revealed, we can jump to a conclusion about Gunfight based on the recent release date leak of Nov. 16. According to leakers, Gunfight will arrive in Modern Warfare 2 with the Season 1 update. As such, if Season 1 launches on Nov. 16, then that’s also when Gunfight could make its way into the game.

•Gunfight launches in MWII
•Ranked Play launches in MWII (Not 100% on this one)

This adds yet another element to the Season 1 update in Modern Warfare 2 and even Warzone 2. If the Nov. 16 release date stands true, then that will be a day jam-packed with content. Fans will likely see a new map, weapon(s), Gunfight, and perhaps Ranked Play all arrive in MW2. In addition to that, Warzone 2 will also supposedly release on that day as well.
If all of the current leaks stand, then fans will have to wait roughly three weeks before getting to play Gunfight in Modern Warfare 2.
