One of the best features that Activision and Infinity Ward have added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is a Field of View (FOV) slider for consoles. The feature has been on PC for years, but has only been a feature on consoles once before (MW2019). The last two games, Cold War and Vanguard, have not had a FOV slider for consoles. Luckily for fans, MW2 has changed that and allowed console players to be on a level playing field with their PC counterparts.
With this change, some players are wondering what’s the best FOV setting to use. After all, players have a range of 60-120 to choose from, leaving plenty of room for customization. However, as PC players know, there is a recommended value for the FOV slider that gives players the best chance to see more of their surroundings without messing up other elements of gameplay.
Best FOV setting in Modern Warfare 2
For fans unaware, the FOV slider allows players to customize how much of their surroundings they see. A higher FOV means the player’s screen gets stretched to see more to the left and right of the screen. A lower FOV brings that view in, limiting what players can see to their left and right.
Generally, players prefer a higher FOV so they can see more in front of them. However, we only recommend going up to around 100-105 FOV. Going higher than that can start to cause some problems, as players’ screens will be zoomed out extremely far. This might make enemies harder to see at longer ranges, among other things.
In terms of additional FOV settings, we recommend going with the Affected ADS Field of View option. This provides players with a clearer zoom when they ADS. Finally, we recommend going with the Wide Weapon Field of View, especially if players are using around 100 FOV. This will make your weapon appear slightly smaller, but not so much that it will affect gameplay in any way. With a smaller weapon, players can see more of what’s in front of them.,
