After your first couple hours in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, you’ll be forced to make a costly decision that affects the rest of the story. This decision requires you to take an Oath, and you have two options to choose from.
The first is to pledge to try and Resurrect Antea, which means you need to continually make human sacrifices so that she may return to being a human. The other Oath is Ascend, allowing Antea to drift off into the afterlife after she’s helped Red defeat The Nightmare. While the Oath you take doesn’t need to be strictly followed, it does affect certain dialogue and your potential ending in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.

Taking the Resurrection Oath in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
If you choose the Resurrection Oath, you are pledging to do everything you can to bring Antea back to life. This means you need to “blame” as many souls as possible, which kills them and aids the resurrection ritual you need to perform.
Of course, there are consequences to taking so many lives, whether they’re innocent or not. You can first choose to kill a man named Jacob, who murdered his friend due to starvation and mental reasons. If you choose to kill Jacob, then Antea is one step closer to being resurrected, but if you stay on that path, your ending will be drastically different. The Resurrection ending is considered worse than the Ascend ending in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.
Taking the Ascend Oath in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Alternatively, if you choose the Ascend Oath, then you’re forcing Antea to eventually leave the world and be a part from Red permanently. Ascension simply means that a specter moves to the afterlife peacefully.
As I previously mentioned, the Ascend ending is likely the better overall conclusion to the story in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. You also don’t need to kill any people with this Oath, but instead, you need to help specters ascend themselves.
Which Oath should you choose?
If you want a stronger ending to the story, then I personally recommend taking the Ascend Oath. However, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to strictly abide by your Oath. This can change your ending, but it’s not the end of the world if you decide to kill a person instead of helping them ascend during a Haunting Case.
On the other hand, if you want to try and keep Red and Antea together for as long as possible, then you’ll want to choose the Resurrection ending. Just keep in mind that killing souls has consequences.
