On Wednesday, Super Smash Bros. Melee professional player Juan Manuel “Hungrybox” DeBiedma tweeted a leaked roster of what looks to be a Warner Bros. fighting game character select screen and posted a YouTube video about the leak that was subsequently blocked on “copyright grounds” by Warner Bros. Entertainment.

The game, titled Warner Bros. Multiverse according to Hungrybox, includes characters from the entertainment conglomerate’s many properties including Rick from “Rick and Morty,” Gandalf from “Lord Of The Rings” and Steven from “Steven Universe.” The characters also seem to have icons designating fighter types or abilities.
According to Nibel, a Twitter account that follows video releases and news, VentureBeat reporter Jeffrey Grubb spoke about the new title on his podcast GrubbSnax. The audio is only available to premium subscribers but Nibel outlined a few of the highlights from the episode.

The game, reportedly, does not look expensive in nature and could be a free-to-play fighting game. In a Reddit post from Oct. 22, the game is said to be a platform fighter in the same vein as the Super Smash Bros. franchise and is being developed by Netherrealm Studios, not WB Games. Grubb has refuted the claim that the game is being developed by Netherrealm.
The specifics surrounding the new title have yet to be confirmed, like whether this will be a mobile title or come to consoles or PC. Warner Bros. itself has not commented on the supposed leaks, but may have confirmed the new game by claiming copyright infringement on Hungybox’s YouTube content.

Games and traditional media picked up on the initial leak and Grubb’s confirmation, but little else has been reported outside of Reddit and the new Hungrybox saga. The new game seems to be a response to Ludosity’s Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl in which the children’s television network compiled some of its most iconic characters into a platform fighting game. The game has seen massive success so far in terms of competitive competition and industry news.
