LEC announces broadcast talent for 2022

The League of Legends European Championship have officially announced their English, on-air broadcast team for 2022, featuring a mix of familiar talent fans know and love as well as newer people to the LEC scene.

The LEC’s broadcast team for 2022 will be:

Mikkel “Guldborg” Guldborg Nielsen
Marc Robert “Caedrel” Lamont
Andrew “Vedius” Day
Daniel “Drakos” Drakos
Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere
Trevor “Quickshot” Henry
Aaron “Medic” Chamberlain
Laure “Bulii” Valée

The league will also feature a pool of guests to the show, including:

Georgia “Troubleinc” Paras
Alex “Nymaera” Hapgood
Oisín “Penguin” Molloy
Robert “Dagda” Price

Most of the names listed include those most fans have come to expect. Quickshot recently made a tweet talking about his return to the LEC as well as opening up on his recovery during the off-season from intense burnout. Sjokz has also confirmed she will not be on broadcast for Week 1 due to personal reasons.

Vedius and Drakos also recently collaborated with American band Against the Current to perform “Wildfire.”

Caedrel is another notable name on the list considering he, at one point, suggested he would staying on as a caster despite rumors before making a cryptic follow up tweet that could have suggested otherwise. It seems things worked out in the end.

Caedrel and Medic also announced they would serve as guest commentators for the new Ligue Française de League of Legends English broadcast by Northern Arena last Friday.

Guldborg and Troubleinc were invited on as guests last summer and, prior to being brought on officially, have cast several European Masters tournaments together. They currently feature on the Northern League of Legends broadcast, too.

Nymaera is a new face for the team. He, too, will be on the NLC, but he has previously casted for the unofficial LJL English broadcast, EU Masters and several other tournaments within the UK. Penguin and Dagda, members of the League of Legends Pro League English language broadcast, are also new to the LEC but have worked on EU Masters in the past.

Last year, the LEC invited many guests, such as Nick “LS” De Cesare, Adrian “Jamada” Wharlton-Thorne, Jake “Hiprain” Matthews and even Swedish streamer Simon “Thebausffs” Hofverberg. The LEC hinted at more special guests beyond its regular rotation in its announcement but did not name any additional participants yet.

The LEC did, however, announce last Thursday that competition will start remote, with teams playing official matches from their training facilities due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions in place.
