One of the new features in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is the Perk Package. This mechanic allows players to select a set of perks that can be different depending on what loadout you’re using them with. This is similar to the perk system from previous years, but players now select four perks instead of three.
However, players only begin each match with two of those perks, with the latter two being unlocked throughout the course of a match. It’s been a controversial system thus far, but Infinity Ward doesn’t seem to be changing the Perk Package system. With that said, players will want to know the best Perk Package to run in Modern Warfare 2 if they want to have the best chance at success in multiplayer.
Best Perk Package in Modern Warfare 2
We’ll go down the line and list the perks by their categories, Base, Bonus, and Ultimate. There are some different perks that players can run depending on their needs, but these are generally considered to be the most helpful. Although, if you’re planning to go on a long killstreak, for example, then you’d want to use the Scavenger perk in the Base category. For most, though, Scavenger won’t come in as handy as the two we’ve selected, which are viewable below.
Base Perks – Bomb Squad, Battle Hardened
The Base Perks we’re starting out with are Bomb Squad and Battle Hardened, which are basically Flak Jacket and Tactical Mask from previous games. These perks allow players to minimize the effects of lethal and tactical equipment, which are being thrown everywhere in the early going of MW2.
It’s hard to go a match without being flashed or naded, which is why we’ve selected these perks. If players are running an SMG or Shotgun, they could substitute one of them for Double Time to maximize their Tactical Sprint time.
Bonus Perk – Fast Hands/Focus
The Bonus Perk is dependent on what kind of gun players are using. If they’re using a close-range weapon, then we recommend Fast Hands. This allows players to reload, swap guns, and throw equipment faster. However, if players are running a long-range gun, then they can swap to Focus, which reduces the flinch inflicted on players when they’re hit with a bullet and aimed down sights.
Ultimate Perk – Ghost
There’s really no debate with this one. With how many UAVs litter the sky in the early going of Modern Warfare 2, Ghost is the best Ultimate Perk to run in any Perk Package. This perk keeps players off of the radar when a UAV is sweeping, even if they’re not moving. It’s the most powerful perk in the game as of right now, but doesn’t become available until level 52.
