The assault rifle class has been one of the most popular over the entire life cycle of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and that’s primarily thanks to a few select guns. One of those guns is the M4, which is arguably the most recognizable ARs in the Call of Duty series. While the M4 isn’t what it used to be in MW2, it still carries a deadly loadout in the final season of the game.

The M4 used to be the best assault rifle in multiplayer until a series of nerfs to it and buffs to other rifles made it not as strong in comparison. However, this doesn’t mean the M4 isn’t still worth using, as it remains a laser beam at long range that can put down enemies in just a few shots. In order to get that performance out of the M4, though, you need to use a specific set of attachments.

To see the full loadout for the M4 in MW2, keep reading below.

Best M4 loadout in MW2

  • Barrel: Tempus Hightower 20″ Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Phase-3 Grip
  • Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
  • Stock: Tempus P80 Strike Stock
  • Rear Grip: XTEN Grip

This loadout is primarily focused on increasing the M4’s base recoil control and damage range. These are the two most important stats for an assault rifle unless players want to play at close range. The loadout begins with the Tempus Hightower 20″ Barrel, which increases damage range and recoil control. Then, we have the 5.56 High Velocity ammo to boost bullet velocity. The Phase-4 Grip improves overall recoil control and stability while the Tempus P80 Strike Stock and XTEN Grip greatly increase mobility.

With this loadout, players can beam enemies across any map without having to put a ton of bullets in enemies. Players will also be able to compete with SMGs at close range.

As a final note, you can use the M4 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
