After a few seasons of being fairly irrelevant in the Call of Duty: Warzone meta, Season 5 sees the turn of the light machine gun. The class took a huge step forward in Season 4 with some of the weapons in the class receiving key buffs throughout the season. However, one weapon has singlehandedly brought the LMG class back to relevance. That weapon is the UGM-8, and it’s easily the best LMG that players can use in Warzone Season 5.

The UGM-8 began to pick up traction last season after players realized that it virtually had no recoil and a strong damage range to boot. Over the course of Season 4, more and more players began to use the UGM-8 and have great success with it. The LMG started to become one of the best kill/death ratio weapons in Warzone. As a result of this success, Raven Software decided to nerf the UGM-8 in the Season 5 weapon balancing update.

While this nerf certainly affected the UGM-8, it didn’t change the fact that it’s the best LMG players can currently equip in Warzone.

Best LMG in Warzone Season 5

The UGM-8 wasn’t hit nearly as hard as other weapons in Season 5. Because of this, players have still been able to use the LMG and achieve fantastic results. In fact, Warzone experts have called the UGM-8 the best overall weapon in Season 5, let alone calling it the best LMG. There’s not another weapon in Season that can match the UGM’s recoil control and damage range, and this includes the best AR.

In addition, the UGM-8 actually has two meta loadouts, one being a regular fully-auto one and the other being burst-fire. The fully-auto loadout will certainly appeal to more players, but the burst-fire loadout can kill enemies quicker if players are accurate. Below, we’ll list the UGM-8’s best overall loadout so players can try it out for themselves in Season 5.

  • Muzzle: MX Silencer
  • Barrel: Bernard XL214 736mm
  • Optic: SVT-40 PU Scope 3-6x
  • Stock: Romuald Tac YR
  • Underbarrel: M1930 Strife Angled
  • Magazine: 6.5mm Sakura 125 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Hatched Grip
  • Perk: Tight Grip
  • Perk 2: Fully Loaded

With this loadout, few enemies will be able to stop players if they hit all of their shots. It’s possible the UGM-8 receives a stronger nerf later on in Season 5, though, so use it while it’s still strong.
