There has really only been one assault rifle used by a majority of Ranked Play players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and that’s the TAQ-56. The TAQ is the current AR of choice by the pros in the Call of Duty League, and there is a clear reason for that. The replica of the SCAR-H is incredibly powerful, possessing the ability to two-tap players with a proper headshot. However, there have been some off-meta assault rifles to challenge the TAQ-56, such as the Kastov 545 and Kastov 762. If players aren’t a fan of those weapons but still want a TAQ alternative for Ranked Play, we suggest the Lachmann 556 and its best loadout.
The Lachmann 556 has always been seen as a good, not a great weapon in MW2 multiplayer. Players think the assault rifle had great accuracy and mobility, but it’s missing the damage range profile that other ARs possess. The TAQ-56 and the Kastov rifles can simply kill quicker than the Lachmann 556, which has turned players off from using it. However, with our loadout, players can make up for that missing damage without sacrificing other stats.

We have made the choice to use the Lachmann Nova barrel over a muzzle. The Lachmann Nova provides a boost to damage range that is sorely needed on the Lachmann 556. As for the rest of the loadout, there is a focus on improving accuracy, mobility, and bullet velocity. Players can tune these attachments any way they see fit, but we would recommend a half-and-half mixture of accuracy and mobility if you were to tune.
The Lachmann 556 isn’t becoming meta anytime soon, but players who want to use it in Ranked now have a terrific loadout to challenge the TAQ-56.
