After a recent ruling from the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), former G2 Esports CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez is banned from any managerial or operational role in anything run by Riot Games until Nov. 13, 2022. On top of this ban, the league also is requiring Rodriguez to go through third-party sensitivity training and executive training. This has to be done within 120 days of the ruling and before he returns to any Riot Games esport.

Carlos Rodriguez gets a suspension after his resignation
In September, Rodriguez posted a video on Twitter involving celebrating G2 winning. In this video, Rodriguez could be seen celebrating alongside controversial figure Andrew Tate.
As the ruling states, “The tweet rapidly garnered attention because of the views expressed by Andrew Tate, which have been described as ‘extreme misogyny.”
After people online criticized Rodriguez, he responded by saying: “Nobody will ever be able to police my friendships, I draw my line here, I party with whoever the f*** I want.”

Soon after, G2 Esports announced that the CEO would be on eight weeks leave and they would suspend his earnings. The day after, on Sept. 19, the LEC started an investigation for disciplinary proceedings. In summary, Rodriguez’s behavior had potentially breached the league’s official rules. According to the ruling, Rodriguez submitted his statement to the league the day after he announced that he was stepping down as CEO of G2 Esports.
This ban applies to Rodriguez as of Oct. 11, 2022, after he already announced that he is stepping down as CEO of G2 Esports. Essentially, this ban means that Carlos can’t remain with G2 Esports or any Riot Games team until mid-November. Also, this prevents him from staying as a part of G2 in a smaller role or joining a different team. Finally, the added required training is to help prevent Carlos from posting similar videos in the future, if he were to rejoin the Riot Games esports sphere.
