After playing in the Overwatch League since its beginning, reports state that Philadelphia Fusion player Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok is joining the T1 VALORANT squad for the 2023 season. After remaining on the Philadelphia Fusion for its entire existence, he will move in the organization to the T1 VALORANT team as the fifth player on the starting roster. This means that out of the recently announced five T1 players, Kim “BeomJun” Beom-jun is the sixth man on the squad.

Carpe’s past in the Overwatch League
When it comes to Overwatch League veterans, Carpe is the player you think of. He is not only one of the few remaining players from the inaugural season, but his consistency is remarkable. Despite not having the best 2022 season compared to his previous years, his dedication to the Philadelphia Fusion shows. First of all, in the inaugural season, he was one of the best DPS players in the world, helping the Fusion reach the 2018 Grand Finals. He is known for his hitscan prowess, from Widowmaker to Cassidy and Ashe.
He helped lead South Korea to a World Cup title that same year, remaining with the Fusion despite roster changes. Despite never winning a title, the Fusion were always a threat with Carpe on the roster, from a weaker 2019 season to a resurgence in 2020. 2021 was another off-year for Carpe, and 2022 was a rollercoaster but the team managed to reach playoffs automatically. However, Carpe isn’t getting much playing time, with the rookies on the Fusion really making their mark.
Carpe moves to VALORANT, joins T1
As for his switch in esports, this is one we’ve seen a lot of. Primarily hitscan players from the Overwatch League have moved on to success in VALORANT. Funnily enough, by joining T1, he is teaming up with old Overwatch League competitors, Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom and Ha “Sayaplayer” Jung-woo. The writing was on the wall that Carpe’s time in the league would end soon, especially with his limited playtime in the 2022 season. However, with his hitscan abilities, moving on to VALORANT might be a good move for him.
With this report, Carpe is joining T1 as their fifth man, part of the starting roster; BeomJun will move into a sixth-man role. Therefore, the full roster for T1 VALORANT in the Pacific region is:

Head coach Autumn confirmed on Twitter that BeomJun was to be T1’s sixth man, with a surprise signing as the fifth. As it turns out, one of the best DPS in Overwatch League history is joining the VALORANT scene.
