Pokémon Go has plenty for players to take advantage of during the Go Tour: Sinnoh event, and one of these features is the Diamon and Pearl badge system. During the event, you’ll be tasked with the choice of picking a side, which impact your gameplay for the rest of it.
From Feb. 15 you can complete Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh Special Research dubbed “Road to Sinnoh” which will ultimately set you up as team Diamond or Pearl for the event. To help you make your decision, here is a look at what each badge does.
Pokémon Go Diamond and Pearl badges
During Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh you’ll be asked to choose between the Diamond and Pearl badges. These two badges will provide you bonus effects tied to the signature Pokémon from either game during the event.
Since you can only pick one, here is a look at all the bonuses each badge will provide you in Pokémon Go.
Diamond badge
- Encounter with Origin Forme Dialga boasting the Roar of Time attack
- The duration of Roar of Time’s Adventure Effect will be doubled
- Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh Special Research will provide Dialga Candy
Pearl badge
- Encounter with Origin Forme Palkia boasting the Spacial Rend attack
- The duration of Spacial Rend’s Adventure Effect will be doubled
- Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh Special Research will provide Palkia Candy
It is worth noting that players who pick a badge during the Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh – Los Angeles event will have that decision carried over to the global event the following weekend, so make sure you pick the one you truly want.
Should I choose Diamond or Pearl in Pokemon Go?
Ultimately you will need to take a look at the bonus effects listed above and decide which will be more helpful to you.
Aside from some small research differences, these are all changes from your decision, so your time spent during the event should be mostly the same either way. However, if you’re planning on moving around then perhaps the Diamond badge is better for the increased incense duration, but if you’re not going anywhere, Spacial Rend’s extended encounter distance will allow you to reach more Pokémon.
It’s entirely up to you, but don’t overthink it too much, as mentioned previously, the rest of the event will remain the same.
