We all love challenging ourselves with raids in Pokémon Go, but while most raids are more of the same, sometimes six-star raids show up to shake up the game and test the strength of your team.
If you’re new to Pokémon Go you may have never seen a six-star raid before, but you might be surprised to know six-star raids showing up in Pokémon Go are nothing new. They’re just very rare.
Before you panic, here is everything you need to know about how these high-level raids function in Pokémon Go.
What are six-star raids in Pokémon Go?
Six-star raids are those that feature Mega Legendary Pokémon, and in the case of the one that appeared in February 2024, it was Mega versions of Latios and Latias.
As you’d expect these raids are substantially more difficult than their lower-star versions. You’ll see much higher combat power from these raid bosses leading to a much higher CP stat than usual.
You shouldn’t treat these raids too differently from others, but given the extra power, you’ll need to bring your strongest Pokémon to the battle. It is also important to tailor your team to the raid boss’s weaknesses. You won’t be able to conquer these raids solo.
While Mega Latias and Latios were the first Pokémon to get a six-star raid, during 2023 other legendaries got a similar treatment including Rayquaza, which was probably the most popular of the bunch.
Of course, you shouldn’t expect to see six-star raids all of the time, but it is a nice addition to mix up the raid cycle.
