Traditionally in Call of Duty: Warzone, the best weapons in the game will be featured on the top 10 pick rate charts. It’s not common for a majority of the community to use a non-meta weapon unless it’s brand new to Warzone. As such, if players look at a website like WZRanked and check out their top 10 most-picked weapons chart, they’ll see mostly meta guns. In Warzone Season 5, the meta features weapons such as the PPSh-41, UGM-8, STG44, Cooper Carbine, and more. However, there are occasionally strong weapons in Warzone that players just don’t know about and won’t pick as often because of that.

One Black Ops Cold War light machine gun, the MG 82, has been a victim of this circumstance in Season 5. The MG 82 currently has one of the lowest pick rates in the entirety of Warzone; as of writing, it’s sitting at a measly 0.05%. On the flip side, however, the MG 82 has one of the best win rates and kill/death ratios of any weapon in the game. Essentially, this means the MG 82 is a well-kept secret by a small portion of the player base.

At one time, the MG 82 was among the most dominant weapons in Warzone. After a series of nerfs during Cold War’s life cycle, though, the LMG became largely irrelevant; especially after Vanguard was released. Through small buffs, however, the MG 82 has become a solid weapon that can compete with the likes of the UGM-8 in Warzone Season 5. The only problem is that few players know about just how strong the MG 82 can be. This season, the MG 82 has an overall KDR of 1.17 (7th best in Warzone) to go along with a 7.50% win rate.

If players want to hop aboard the MG 82 bandwagon in Season 5, they’ll need the proper loadout.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 16.4” Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap

The MG 82 is strongest at long-range but also doesn’t perform badly at mid-range gunfights either. Although, players will need a powerful SMG as a secondary weapon to deal with any close-range gunfights. Perhaps this newfound information surrounding the MG 82 will see its popularity increase throughout Warzone Season 5.
