At this weekend’s CDL Major II tournament, the winners will be going home with more than the grand prize of $200,000. Thanks to the hosts, Minnesota ROKKR, the winners will also be rewarded with a trophy.

This is the first time a trophy has on the line at a major event in the CDL. For some reason, the league itself has not given out trophies to the major winners. So, it seems as though the ROKKR are taking matters into their own hands.

Minnesota ROKKR design a Major II trophy

When the OpTic Texas won their own major a few weeks ago, they celebrated on stage without a trophy to hoist. While OpTic member Davis “Hitch” Edwards said one is getting made for OpTic, there was no trophy physically on stage. While the focal point of celebration is usually a trophy, the winners just stood on stage.

It’s believed the CDL has not given out trophies at major events to make the CDL Champs trophy at the end of the year that much more significant. However, fans and players alike have clamored for a major trophy to be given out since the start of last season. Now, thanks to Minnesota, the trend of making a special trophy for each major appears to have been set.

The trophy is designed around the ROKKR’s logo and name origin. It’s meant to resemble a Viking shield and even has some Norse markings around it. The color of the shield is purple and gray, the same colors as the ROKKR, and it has a plaque that says “Minnesota ROKKR Major II Tournament Champs.”

Whichever team takes home the Major II victory will likely have this trophy waiting for them in the center of the main stage where they can lift the shield to signify their win.

Matches for the CDL Major II begin on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET at the Mystic Lake Center in Minnesota.
