Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 is here, along with some great updates for players. With the launch of Season 3 comes the new Xbox Cloud Gaming platform, giving players the ability to play hundreds of games direct from the browser. This means any device with an internet connection and a web interface, from mobile phones and tablets to low-end PCs that could not previously run Fortnite now can through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Players don’t need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to play selected games. There’s lots of free games and even Xbox 360 titles. To celebrate the launch of Fortnite on Xbox Game Pass, Epic Games is giving all players on Xbox Cloud Gaming the free Dazzle Daggers Pickaxe — here’s how to get the item.
Connecting your Xbox Account
Before launching into Xbox Cloud Gaming, the first thing players should do to ensure your Epic Games account is linked with your Xbox account. You can do this by logging into Epic Games through your browser and navigating to your account by clicking your gamertag in the top right hand corner and selecting “Account” from the drop down. Click “Connections” in the left pane and then click the “Accounts” tab. Check to see if your Xbox account is connected; if it isn’t, click the blue “Connect” button.
Launch Xbox Cloud Gaming
Now that your account is connected, you can launch Fortnite via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Head over to the Fortnite page on the Xbox Cloud Gaming site. You can launch this site from any web browser, including from your PC. If you are playing from PC, you’ll need to ensure you have a controller connected. Players don’t need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to play Fortnite on Xbox Cloud Gaming, just click the green “Play” button. Follow any prompts that appear and wait for the game to open.
Get your free Dazzle Daggers Pickaxe
Once your game is fully launched, head to the home screen. After a few seconds, you should receive a notification that you’ve received the daggers. You won’t need to play a game or launch anything special, simply loading the game is enough to obtain this free item.
Click to claim the item and it will be added to your Locker, where you can add it to your cosmetics rotation.
