As one of the oldest Pokémon with a specific evolution requirement, here is how to evolve the newest Galarian variant of Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokémon GO. Where in the games, it revolves around a level up or a trade with an item, the Pokémon GO evolution is a little more complex.

From Galarian Slowpoke to Galarian Slowking

To start, this evolution guide is only for the Galarian version of Slowpoke to the Galarian version of Slowking. Fans will recognize this Slowpoke as the one with the yellow mark along their foreheads.

To start, where most Pokémon in Pokémon GO just need their respective Candies to evolve, Galarian Slowpoke needs some extra steps. Here is the rundown:

  • Choose your Galarian Slowpoke as your Buddy
  • Catch 30 Psychic-Type Pokémon (while having the Slowpoke as your Buddy)
  • Collect 50 Slowpoke Candies
  • Evolve from Galarian Slowpoke to Slowking

The key difference that fans have to keep in mind in this evolution is catching other Pokémon while having the Slowpoke as your buddy. To get the Slowking, make sure that you catch Psychic-Types.

Galarian Slowbro another option

If you decide that you want a Galarian Slowbro instead of Slowking in Pokémon GO, you change that type that you need to catch from Psychic to Poison. The rest of the evolution requirements are the same, from the Buddy to the 50 Candies. Just follow the same list as above, but change the type you need to catch.

As for collecting Slowpoke Candies, use the three main methods. Either focus on catching more Slowpoke or their evolutions, feed Pinap Berries to Slowpokes to get more Candy upon catching them or just make one your Buddy and walk a lot with them.
