Crawbrawler is a Pokémon that was introduced in Generation VII, but has made a return in Scarlet and Violet. This Fighting-type crab is not a version exclusive, meaning players with either copy of the game will be able to catch it. Players can find Crawbrawler along the beaches of Paldea, which is where you’d expect to find a crab in real life. However, after players have caught Crawbrawler, they’ve been perplexed as to how to evolve it in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

In the past, Crawbrawler could be evolved into Crabominable by visiting a specific location in Sun and Moon and training it to a certain level. That evolution method has been scrapped in Scarlet and Violet, and players will have to figure out what this is in order to evolve their Crawbrawler. While you can try to figure that out for yourself, you could also read our guide on the subject below.

While Crawbrawler is a singular Fighting-type, its evolution, Crabominable, is a dual Ice and Fighting-type. This secondary typing that Crabominable gains is imperative to its new evolution method. Players will need an Ice Stone to evolve Crawbrawler into its new, icy form.

There are a couple of ways to acquire an Ice Stone in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The first and easiest way is to head to the Glaseado Mountain range and search the ground for item pickups. An Ice Stone can be picked up through regular red Poké Balls or through the yellow sparkles on the ground.

You can also head to the Auction House in Porta Marinada and bid on an Ice Stone. This method isn’t as reliable as the first, as you could be outbid and you need to wait for an Ice Stone to go up for auction. If you want to try out this method, head to Porto Marinada and then go to the brightly-lit pavilion. Check around the different stalls and see what’s up for auction until you find an Ice Stone available. Make sure you have a solid amount of cash on you in case the bidding goes high.

Regardless of how you acquire your Ice Stone, once you have one, use it on Crawbrawler and you’ll evolve it into Crabominable in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
