With so many things to do in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players may be overwhelmed. That could be especially true when it comes to actual battles. With Team Star, the Titan Pokémon and of course, the gym battles, players may find themselves struggling to keep up with the power of these foes. As players progress through the game, the level of the Pokémon they fight against will gradually go up. However, sometimes players may find themselves wanting more of a challenge or more firepower. Here is a quick guide on how to catch higher-level Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Push boundaries

Unlike many of the other mainline Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have unparalleled freedom. The game is as open-world as one can realistically expect from a Pokémon title. There is no set track on how players tackle the game. Theoretically, players can start from the strongest foes and work their way down to the weakest ones if they so choose. But on the same line of thinking, players may find themselves thinking that they shouldn’t be in certain places at certain parts of the game as the Pokémon do not dynamically scale. Basically, if a player explores a little too far, they will find Pokémon with levels way higher than their party. Using Koraidon or Miraidon can allow players to jump, swim or climb to areas that normally wouldn’t be reached until late into the game.

Catching them is a different story altogether. First off, it’s important to note that the more gym badges collected, the easier it is to catch high-level Pokémon. Each gym badge ups the level baseline by five. It is still possible to catch high-level Pokémon without the gym badges though. Just remember to get the Pokémon low. The lower HP the Pokémon you are trying to catch is, the higher chance your Pokéballs will capture it. Putting the wild Pokémon to sleep is also an easier way to catch high-level Pokémon too. And of course, using better Pokéballs is important. It will take way longer using standard Pokéballs to catch high-level Pokémon than it would with Ultra Balls.
