The 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London, England, concluded on Sunday as a new video game championship winner was crowned. After a three-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event marked the grand return of the biggest offline Pokémon competition.
With five different games and multiple age divisions for many of those games, several people walked away with the brand new title of world champion this weekend. Here’s a rundown of every winner from the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.
Every 2022 Pokémon World Championships VGC winner
In a grand finals set where both players were faced with out-of-game controversies, Portugal’s Eduardo “EmbC” Cunha beat Spain’s Guillermo “KastyTP” Castilla Diaz to win the VGC Masters Division. EmbC went 11-0 en route to first place, making it the most dominant VGC Worlds win in a decade.

Japan’s Yasuharu S. defeated Australia’s Nicholas K. to win the Seniors Division VGC finals. Meanwhile, Japan’s Kosaku M. overcame Australia’s Kiara N. to become the 2022 Pokémon World Championships Juniors Division VGC winner.
Trading card game champions
The Czech Republic’s Ondřej Škubal made use of Bidoof in his win against Japan’s Daichi Shimada to become the 2022 Pokémon World Championships Masters Division TCG winner. It was a face-off between two Americans in the Seniors Division finals, as Liam H. came out on top against Sebastian L.

Finally, Japan’s Rikuto O. claimed victory in a close Juniors Division finals set. Rikuto O. earned a 2-1 win over Canada’s Tristan T. to secure a Pokémon World Championships title.
2022 Pokémon UNITE World Championships winner
North American team BLVKHVND became the Pokémon UNITE world champions in the game’s first-ever offline major. Since there was only one age division for UNITE, they emerged as the lone winning team for this game.
Throughout the whole tournament, BLVKHVND did not drop a set. In addition, they didn’t drop a single game in top eight. Though Nouns Esports from Europe made a deep run through the losers bracket, BLVKHVND still defeated them to solidify themselves as the best Pokémon UNITE team in the world.

Pokémon GO champions
Germany’s DancingRob went on a nine-set losers run to claim first place in the Pokémon GO Masters Division at the game’s very first Pokémon World Championships appearance. After a thrilling 10-game pair of grand finals sets, DancingRob emerged victorious over South Korea’s godanhada.
Meanwhile, MEweedle represented the United Kingdom for a hometown victory, winning the Pokémon GO Seniors Division. MEweedle won from the winners bracket after fending off Japan’s alan716.

Pokkén Tournament DX champions
After being unable to attend the North America International Championships, the United States’ Davon “Shadowcat” Amos-Hall came to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships hoping to get in through the Last Chance Qualifiers. Not only did he win the LCQs, but he won the entire Pokkén Tournament DX Masters Division.
In the game’s final appearance on the official Pokémon circuit, Shadowcat faced fellow American Chaz “Mewtater” Wright in grand finals. Mewtater won Game 5 to reset the bracket, then pushed Shadowcat to Game 5 again in the second set. However, Shadowcat came out on top in the last round to become Pokkén Tournament DX’s last world champion.

Finally, Fruitprime became the 2022 Pokémon World Championships winner in the Pokkén Tournament DX Seniors Division. Fruitprime swept Wefroe 3-0 in the grand finals in order to win the event.
