On Day 6 of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen tournament, both teams that made their debut were sent to the lower bracket.

In the first series of the day, Leviatán faced DRX. The top seed from Latin America got to make their debut and they started it off with a bang on Ascent. DRX had trouble against the double initiator composition that Leviatán ran, on top of losing every clutch. Going into halftime down 11-1, DRX showed more life in the second half but the lead proved too large. After losing Ascent 13-6, DRX had to bounce back on Breeze. They did just that, winning six rounds before losing their first one. After reaching 8-4 at the half, DRX ran away with the rest of the map, winning it 13-5. It all ended on Haven, a map that DRX had an 88% win rate heading into it. Hitting the half up 9-3, DRX stopped a potential comeback to win 13-11.
The second series was the battle of NA, between OpTic Gaming and XSET. Starting on Haven, OpTic got an early lead thanks to Pujan “FNS” Mehta. As Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker kept his form up, OpTic hit the half up 10-2. As XSET started to build a comeback in the second half, OpTic shut them out 13-7. Then, on Bind, XSET got off to a better start but OpTic remained the better team. Going into the half up 8-4, Austin “crashies” Roberts just put the game to bed for OpTic. Winning it 13-7, OpTic will face DRX in the upper bracket while XSET will face Leviatán.
Play of the day
The Leviatán and DRX series proved to be a very close one, with the final map proving the most interesting. After two maps that swung between who trounced on the other, Haven proved to be the only close map. After going up 9-3, DRX choked out a lead until it was 12-11, one round away from overtime. But, it was Yu “BuZz” Byung-chul who got a clutch 4k to help seal the round, getting kills on multiple enemy swings.

Day 6 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen MVP
For Day 6, we’re appreciating DRX’s use of teamwork to win against a powerful Leviatán team by naming Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan as our MVP. This revolves around one key stat that MaKo held after winning against Leviatán: 51 assists. He was crucial on Breeze to get them back into the series, with 24 assists on that map alone and a 100% KAST (kill/assist/survive/trade). Then, despite not having as good of a third map on Haven, his use of Omen‘s blinds and smokes got him another 18 assists.

For comparison, if you add all his teammates’ assists together for that series, their total ties his alone; MaKo had more assists on Breeze than anyone had even in kills on any map this series. Especially with utility being such a vital component of DRX’s strategy, MaKo deserves MVP for Day 6 of Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen.
