Street Fighter 6 developers provided insights into the game’s character customization options, gameplay, and more during a livestream as part of Tokyo Game Show 2022 on Friday. In the process, Capcom revealed the entirety of the base roster for Street Fighter 6.

Capcom highlighted gameplay footage of four veteran fighters that will return as playable characters in the upcoming game: Ken Masters, Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda. They will join a line-up of returning characters that also includes the following:

  • Ryu
  • Chun-Li
  • Guile
  • Cammy
  • Zangief
  • Dee Jay
  • Juri
  • Luke

In addition, the Street Fighter 6 roster is set to introduce six newcomers to the series right upon release. These characters are named Jamie, Kimberly, JP, Manon, Marisa, and Lily. Capcom also shared the World Tour opening movie, which features the official artwork for all 18 characters.

More about the Street Fighter 6 roster

The 18-character base line-up places Street Fighter 6 ahead of Street Fighter V, which launched in 2016 with 16 playable fighters. However, the Street Fighter V roster ended up growing to 46 characters through several waves of downloadable content.

Up to now, Capcom has not confirmed whether there will be DLC characters added down the road. However, the classification of these 18 characters as a “launch roster” rather than simply the “roster” suggests that Street Fighter 6 will likely follow the same path as Street Fighter V in terms of DLC.

A select group of players will get to try out Street Fighter 6 early during its closed beta in October. The beta will feature a condensed roster of the following eight characters:

  • Ryu
  • Ken
  • Chun-Li
  • Guile
  • Luke
  • Juri
  • Jamie
  • Kimberly

The Street Fighter 6 release date is still unconfirmed. Nevertheless, Capcom has announced that it will launch sometime in 2023. The game will also feature a large amount of in-game content, including differing multiplayer battle types and an array of single-player modes.
