Another day, another Call of Duty League roster becoming official for the 2023 season. After making one of the most confusing moves of the season by dropping Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson, Atlanta FaZe have signed an old friend. Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, who’s coming over from the LA Guerrillas, is the fourth and final member of Atlanta for the upcoming season. This is SlasheR’s second stint on FaZe as he competed for the organization during half of the Advanced Warfare season.

FaZe brings back SlasheR after confusing roster shakeup

It’s a clean one-for-one swap between Atlanta and LAG. Arcitys was announced to be the fourth member of LAG earlier this week and SlasheR has now become the newest FaZe member. The specifics for the moves are unclear, as both players would have needed to be bought out by the other organization, given the fact they were both restricted free agents. We do know that Arcitys signed an unprecedented three-year deal with LAG but SlasheR’s potential new contract has not been disclosed.

This transaction wraps up a strange wrinkle in the 2022 CDL offseason. The reasons for FaZe moving on from Arcitys, who is the winningest player in COD history, are still unknown. It was widely thought that Atlanta would be sticking together for a third year in a row, but Arcitys announced his restricted free agency last week. The current rumor is that Atlanta originally wanted Brandon “Dashy” Otell from OpTic Texas, who the organization thought was available. However, OpTic quickly reversed course on its roster, instead choosing to keep Dashy for 2023.

This presumably left Atlanta in a sticky situation, as Arcitys had already announced his free agency. FaZe seemingly moved on from Dashy and honed in on SlasheR, who was also a restricted free agent and thus feasible to acquire from LAG.

In Atlanta FaZe’s announcement video for SlasheR, he stated he would run the main AR for the team this upcoming season. If this role holds, then reigning CDL MVP Cellium would run the Flex, with Simp and aBeZy as the SMG duo as always. Modern Warfare 2 could call for different roles, though, so there could be some changes after the game releases on Oct. 28.

There are still several teams yet to announce their full rosters for the 2023 roster. However, Atlanta now joins Minnesota ROKKR, LAG, and OpTic Texas as teams that are locked in for next year.
