Having already broken through to the top of the global Netflix TV show charts after both its first and second acts, Riot Games’ animated League of Legends series “Arcane” is back at the top of the charts after Act 3, the final in its first season. Despite major competition across the globe from breakthrough series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness,” “Cowboy Bebop,” and “Hellbound,” “Arcane” took the No. 1 spot in 33 countries, enough to make it the most-watched TV show on Netflix throughout the world.

Arcane ranks No. 1 on Netflix in 33 countries
With several new series breaking through on Netflix in the past week, “Arcane” faced stiff competition in major markets like the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. It also fell to No. 2 in South Korea, behind “Hellbound,” the hottest new series on the platform. Nevertheless, “Arcane” continued its domination of the global charts with No. 1 ranks in 33 different markets, making it the most-watched TV show on Netflix in the world for the third time.

Riot Games confirms Season 2 of ‘Arcane’ is in production
As covered Saturday, Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent tweeted in 2019 that the company was working on multiple seasons of “Arcane.” Because Riot had not made any further comments on there being more than one season of the show since then, and because that 2019 tweet generally went under the radar when it was made, it was a welcome surprise to many when Laurent’s comments resurfaced.
Of course, it wasn’t long after the season concluded that Riot officially confirmed Season 2 of “Arcane” was in the works during the “Undercity Nights” live event that the company put on to celebrate the series.
While Riot and Netflix have not yet hinted at a release date for “Arcane” Season 2, the series will not return in 2022.
