If you have played through Baldur’s Gate 3 a few times, you may be looking for a similar game to sink your teeth into. For fans of Dungeons & Dragons, here are five games like Baldur’s Gate 3 to try in 2024.

5. Diablo 4

While Diablo 4 came out in 2023, this game resembles a lot of classic RPGs when it comes to its intense gameplay and fantasy themes. You can follow a main story through a winding, dark world but there are also plenty of side quests and hidden locations to discover.

Like Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo 4 has a lot of customization options so you can choose the skills that work for your playstyle. But what it does better than Baldur’s Gate 3 is the clothing, weapons, and armor customization — there are plenty of super awesome designs early on. Explore the massive Diablo 4 open world in style.

4. Elden Ring

If you want to play a grittier version of Dungeons & Dragons, check out Elden Ring. Similarly, you’ll explore a massive open world in third person, bringing along a party (whether it’s friends or NPCs). You will notice that both Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 are a bit hardcore, with dark storylines and scary elements. Elden Ring is a bit more difficult than Baldur’s Gate 3 (and many other games) so get ready for some intense moments.

3. World of Warcraft

While World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, it has a ton of similar elements to Baldur’s Gate 3, including a heavy focus on fantasy, massive world building, and teamwork. There are three versions of WoW to choose from, all of which are inspired by Dungeons & Dragons’ storylines and creatures. But if you want it to feel the most like D&D (and therefore the most like Baldur’s Gate 3), check out Classic WoW. This will give you your fantasy fix — but most likely lead to an unhealthy addiction.

2. Kingdom of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Even though Kingdom of Amulur came out in 2012, it’s still a great RPG for fans of Dungeons & Dragons in 2024 — over a decade later. You’ll find an abundance of things to do and explore in an open world setting and the character creation is quite detailed. Unlike Baldur’s Gate 3, however, it’s less focused on fighting and combat. If you are looking for more of story-driven game, check this out.

1. Fable 4

It’s speculated that Fable 4 is coming in the fall of 2024, so you’ll be able to experience a brand new fantasy game from the makers of the iconic Fable series. Fable is an action roleplaying game so the gameplay is a bit different from Baldur’s Gate 3, but it has the same fantasy and story-driven elements that will keep D&D fans addicted. Every choice you make matters, shifting how people view you and changing elements of your experience. Take on side quests if you want that open world experience.
