Team Liquid is the latest esports dynasty to assemble a Fortnite team. Announced on June 5, Team Liquid Fortnite celebrated the announcement with a heavily stylized video (embedded below).
Aside from a brief tweet, the team also shared the following statement:
Competitive success is Team Liquid’s number one priority—while we scouted several major content creators and streamers, this precedent informed our final decision. Our four man squad is already making waves within the competitive community, scrimming daily and honing their skills for tournaments to come. We can’t wait to bring our experience and resources to this new title.
Team Liquid Fortnite: The Players
The squad consists of Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan, Adam “Strafesh0t” Crawford, Jake “POACH” Brumleve, and Ryan “Chap” Chaplo. 72hrs is a former member of FaZe Clan, which made headlines recently due to a lawsuit. Meanwhile, Strafesh0t portrays the leader of the new team due to his older age. In poetic fashion, POACH, the youngest and an esports novice, serves as his foil. Chap rounds out the team with a strategy focused on close-quarters combat.
Team Liquid is just the latest team to make waves on the Fortnite front. Earlier this week, Team SoloMid announced a partnership deal with Chipotle. We also discovered that Team Echo Fox was gearing up for a run at the game’s biggest prize. Meanwhile, Fortnite‘s first major competition is a week away. The Pro-Am 2018 will pit 100 star gamers and pop celebrities against each other to battle in pairs. This high-profile event is invitation-only, with a $3 million charity prize pool. Unlike TSM, the roster does not yet include any members of Team Liquid. That being said, this team will have plenty of other chances to prove themselves, as Epic Games already pledged $100 million in prizes for this year. Time will tell if the newest addition to Team Liquid can continue the organization’s winning legacy.
