Sporting Kansas City has been struck a blow for the rest of their EA Sports FIFA 19 competitive season. eMLS player Macissé ‘SKCCisse’ Diop has been suspended for the rest of the season for violating the game’s rules and code of conduct. He will not be able to compete in any qualifiers or any live events in the Global Series.

SKCCisse’s punishment is similar to the suspension handed to Philip ‘PhilB94′ Balke for violating EA Sports’ rules regarding FIFA coins, the game’s in-game currency.

Diop issued an apology to his fans via his Twitter profile. It went as follows:

Due to unfortunate circumstances, I will no longer be competing in the FIFA 19 Global Series Circuit. I am saying this with great sadness as I was in an ideal position to [be] making playoffs especially with eChampions League coming at the end of the month.

[I] would like to take this time to apologize to those that have supported [me] throughout the season. It was truly not my intention to let you down. However, I am positive that I will bounce back and make you proud.

Throw-Balke

Diop’s violation is considered bad but not as bad as Toronto FC’s Balke’s.

The full details of Balke’s actions were unclear, but it was widely believed to have been related to gambling. Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment issued a statement after Balke’s suspension was made public. “MLSE takes the rules and regulations governing our partner leagues seriously and competitive FIFA is no exception. We will be further evaluating the situation with Major League Soccer and will provide additional comment at an appropriate time.”

These two suspensions came as the FIFA 19 esports scene began ramping up. The eNations Cup is just 4 days away, and the eWorld Cup is happening at the end of this year. The suspended players will miss out on vital FIFA Global Series Points that allow players to qualify for the biggest competitions.
