Well-known PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) leaker @PlayerIGN has claimed that PUBG 2.0 and PUBG Mobile 2.0 are in the works. While there hasn’t been an official announcement from PUBG Corp as of yet, PlayerIGN seems to think that it will happen soon.

Project XTRM was a project announced in early 2020 via a job listing for PUBG Korea. Even though a dataminer discovered that the keywords associated with the listing were “XTRM – PUBG IP New Project,” many observers assumed it to be a rebuild of the original game. At the time, a PUBG Korea administrator said, “XTRM is a new project that is being developed internally. There is no further disclosure yet, including who the director is.”
He also added, “Nothing has been decided yet on whether or not it will be used.”
According to PlayerIGN, XTRM was always PUBG 2.0 and PUBG Mobile 2.0. He also mentioned that PUBG 2.0 will be cross-platform with PC and console. He originally thought that it would include cross-play with PUBG Mobile 2.0, but recanted his claim just a few tweets later.
PlayerIGN also claims that PUGB Korea in Seoul will develop PUBG 2.0. Whereas, the team behind PUBG Lite will handle PUBG Mobile 2.0. He says that this would make sense since PUBG Lite abruptly stopped updating.

Just waiting on the official word
As previously mentioned, neither PUGB Corp nor its affiliates have announced or confirmed this info from PlayerIGN. A version 2.0 certainly seems likely, because who doesn’t love a sequel to a wildly popular game?
PUBG‘s final tournament for the 2020-2021 season is less than a month away. This could be the perfect time to announce a version 2.0. The PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021 will start on February 1 in South Korea (where the sequel is rumored to be developed) with 32 invited teams all battling it out for a monster prize pool of $3.5 million.
