This week, Riot Games revealed new League of Legends skins with several paying tribute to Invictus Gaming’s 2018 world championship win. Other than the six set aside for that, there are three other champions getting new skins: Zed, Evelynn, and Alistar.

Each of the new skins can be seen through the previews published by Riot Games, including a special hidden Easter egg feature for Zed’s new Galaxy Slayer skin.

Galaxy Slayer Zed

The first skin unveiled on Tuesday was Zed’s Galaxy Slayer skin which comes patterned with a gold finish. The circular shadow he throws out has a red/purple outline, containing glowing star particles and a galaxy-like design within.

However, something Riot didn’t originally mention with the patch announcement was an homage to Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s iconic play in this Zed skin. Faker is regarded as one of the greatest League of Legends players. He was recently featured in Forbes’ 2019 annual 30 under 30 in Asia, becoming the first Korean player to be selected for the list.

One reason that can be attributed toward his prestige would be his iconic outplay of then KT Bullets’ mid laner Ryu “Ryu” Sang-wook in a Zed vs. Zed matchup, during the finals of OGN Champions. Similarly, by killing another Zed using Zed’s Galaxy Slayer skin, you can hear him say, “Look at the skill, look at the moves. Zed, what was that?” The voice line references Erik “DoA” Lonnquist’s casting during the Zed duel.

Zed’s Galaxy Slayer skin is expected to come out with patch 9.8 as a Legendary skin for 1820 RP. It is currently available on PBE.

K/DA Evelynn Prestige Edition

The second skin unveiled is the K/DA Evelynn Prestige Edition skin. Unlike the other skins also released, this skin will only be available for purchase using 100 Prestige Points.

Each ability has a K/DA related animation, with yellow moving stage lights, shining gold blades, and background music.

Conqueror Alistar

The last skin unveiled is Conqueror Alistar. This skin is similar to Varus and Karma that have also previously received a Conqueror version. Champions that have good performances at Worlds earn this title. Similarly, the previous title was Challenger for Ahri and Nidalee.

25% of the profit generated from sales of the Conqueror Alistar skin are placed into the Mid-Season Invitational prize pool. Conqueror Alistar will cost 975 RP and won’t launch until patch 9.9 because of the Mid-Season International.
