The offseason moves continued Thursday for the NBA 2K League with three teams moving towards solidifying a starting five for 2020. Thursday saw three transactions completed before the end of the night. The moves included two retention decisions and a player-for-pick trade.

Thursday’s moves continued the run of NBA 2K League teams pushing to finalize rosters after the expansion draft this past Friday. Although Thursday’s decisions helped a team like Celtics Crossover Gaming complete the starting roster, most teams in the league still sit with two-to-four rostered players.

The following offseason moves have either been confirmed by the NBA 2K League on the league’s website or shared over social media by the league.

NBA 2K League Thursday trade

Celtics Crossover Gaming made two moves on Thursday. First, Boston traded a second-round draft pick to Heat Check Gaming in exchange for Bobby “MOAM” Wilson. The small forward was one of the better all-around players in the league last season. Wilson averaged 15.8 points, 2.2 steals, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per game.

Roster retentions

Knicks Gaming opened the day by announcing its offseason plans to retain international player Harry “HazzaUK” Hurst. The UK native was a balanced player for the New York squad in 2019. Hurst averaged 9.6 points and 2.3 steals for the 2019 season.

Shortly after the trade with Heat Check Gaming, Celtics Crossover Gaming retained guard Tamer “Bulleyy” Mustafa over Alex “Profusion” Snowden. Mustafa finished last year with 9.6 points per game and contributed defensively with 1.6 steals per game.

The move to retain Mustafa completed Celtics Crossover Gaming’s starting five for 2020. Boston is the first team to do so before the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft. The starting five are currently Albano “oFAB” Thomallari, Terry “NO xAUTOGRAPHSx” Jackson, Ahmed “Mel East” Kasana, Wilson, and Mustafa. Boston’s lone pick in the 2020 NBA 2K League draft is a fourth-round selection.
