Michael “MikeYeung” Yeung is finally joining another organization for 2019. The young jungler is joining Team Liquid Academy for the next season.

After an offseason of uncertainty, Team Liquid is finally giving MikeYeung a new lease on his career.  He will be joining Omran “V1per” Shoura, David “Insanity” Challe and Quentin “Shoryu” Pereira on the team. Team Liquid Academy is still missing a support player for this upcoming year. However, it will be an uphill battle for MikeYeung to make it back to an NA LCS team. This will be his first new team since joining Team Solo Mid back in 2017.

A Short Stint with TSM

The 19-year-old would start his professional League career back with Phoenix1. He would play relatively well, garnering some attention from the league as an up and coming North American jungler. He would end up joining Team Solo Mid after the team would drop some of the core, including Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Vincent “Biofrost” Wang. They would bring MikeYeung in, hoping that he would reach some of the potential he displayed in the previous split.

Unfortunately, the team wouldn’t rise to the occasion in 2018. First, the team would finish in third place during the regular season. However, they would exit the playoffs early in a surprise loss to Clutch Gaming in the first round. This would be the last time anyone would see MikeYeung on the NA LCS stage. They would replace MikeYeung after only one season, with Jonathan “Grig” Armao taking his place. It was an unexpected end to his stint with the team.

They would demote him to the Academy team for the rest of the year, where he would place seventh in the summer. Many people were not sure why TSM would stick with Grig, who wouldn’t perform any better during his first split with the team. He would actually struggle and be a liability throughout the season for TSM, and they wouldn’t make it to Worlds for the first time in their history.

Joining the Team Liquid Academy

MikeYeung will have to prove himself to North America once again, as his stock as a player has fallen. However, he could work his way up to the LCS stage with Team Liquid. Team Liquid Academy was a top team last season and should be pretty good with MikeYeung as their jungler. His aggressive playstyle can be finally shown off in a way that was never done on TSM. Also, he can finally try to build himself up as he did back in 2017 with Phoenix1.
