Version1 had a fantastic start at the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2 Masters, but Day Four saw them fall to Korea’s only hope, NUTURN. After a shocking victory against EMEA’s Team Liquid, V1 looked like a force to be reckoned with and after an extremely dominant opening map against NUTURN, most thought a spot in the Upper Bracket final was all but secured.

However, they weren’t quite able to close the game out and the series eventually ended in NUTURN’s favor, after both teams delivered one of the most entertaining best-of-threes in the entire tournament so far. Both sides traded surprising rounds and plays, keeping things suspenseful to the end. Version1’s star Jett player Erik “penny” Penny has been a standout, but speaking with Upcomer, penny felt like he underperformed against NUTURN and could have done more to help his team secure a victory.

Nevertheless, penny also acknowledged that it feels nice to finally get recognition from international audiences and that despite just having one week of practice with their stand-in Jamal “jammyz” Bangash, he’s confident that they are able to turn their luck around and make the Lower Bracket dream run. While they won’t be facing Sentinels any time soon, penny also revealed the secret to beating their unstoppable fellow NA countrymen.
