Update: Karmine Corp confirmed their signing of Rekkles. Dot Esports reported he would receive $1 million over two years and that the buyout cost was more than $1 million. The original report follows:
While bot laner Jakob “Jackspektra” Kepple recently reached a verbal agreement with Karmine Corp in 2022, the team instead plans to sign legendary European bot laner, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson to a two year deal, sources close to Upcomer said on Monday.
Karmine Corp are purchasing Rekkles from G2 Esports part-way through his contract with the League of Legends European Championship team. This would be his first time playing in the Ligue Française de League of Legends.

Rekkles earned a second-place finish with G2 Esports in the LEC summer 2021 regular season. After G2 lost in the LEC 2021 summer playoffs losers’ bracket against Fnatic in a 3-2 upset, Rekkles missed out on attending the World Championship for the first time since 2016.
In September, G2 Esports announced Rekkles would leave the team after they failed to qualify for Worlds 2021. The last time Rekkles won a domestic title was with Fnatic in the spring of 2018. After placing third in the LEC 2021 spring split and fourth in summer with G2, Rekkles will be looking to return to his championship form.
This summer, Rekkles had the highest kill percentage and creep score per minute of all bot laners in the LEC, and he had the second-highest KDA of all LEC players across all positions.
League of Legends free agency officially opens at 7 p.m. ET on Nov. 15.
