Following its cancellation in 2021, at the height of the global pandemic, DreamHack Anaheim will make its 2022 return on Feb. 11-13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The gaming and lifestyle festival will be in-person, following COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of its guests and athletes.
“Anaheim is ready to re-engage and reenergize DreamHack attendees during their first in-person experience in two years,” said Junior Tauvaa, Chief Sales Officer of Visit Anaheim. “Attendees can visit our destination with confidence knowing their health and safety is our priority while we strive to provide them with unparalleled service in a world-class venue.”
Attendance will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. More details on this will be available closer to the event.
A multi-game festival
DreamHack Anaheim has previously featured a wide array of esports, including Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Halo and fighting games like Super Smash Bros., Tekken and Street Fighter. The 24-hour festival will also feature cosplay championships, live music concerts, panels, speedrunning events and more.
The last DreamHack Anaheim took place Jan. 19, 2020 through Feb. 23, 2020. The Swedish production company had planned to host the in-person festival in late 2021, but was forced to postpone on account of the spread of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.
“It seems very poetic that our first in-person festival in the U.S. will happen in the same city as our last festival before the pandemic two years ago,” said Marcus Lindmark, President at DreamHack, SVP Project and Event Operations at ESL Gaming. “We cannot wait to again share the DreamHack experience with Anaheim.”
The full schedule of global DreamHack festivals for 2022 will be announced at DreamHack day on Dec. 9, 2021.
