Call of Duty: Warzone is getting its largest competitive duos and trios event to date in the World Series of Warzone (WSOW). Four events across North America and Europe will have a $1.2 million dollar prize pool divided between them. The first event will be streamed on June 23.
The WSOW features the largest prize pool in competitive Warzone history. 50 North American trios will drop into a custom lobby for six matches for the lion’s share of $200,000 for the first event on June 23. The other $100,000 goes to the Captain’s Cup, a series of matches played by trios drafted by recognizable faces from the Call of Duty community.

How does the World Series of Warzone work?
Call of Duty: Warzone has a different scoring system compared to other battle royale esports. A single kill gives teams one point; those points are then multiplied depending on the team’s placement at the end of the match. First place will double the points earned that game while every other team up until fifteenth place gets a 1.5 multiplayer. Any teams placing lower than that won’t receive a multiplier.
The WSOW is a semi-invitational event. A select group of players have been invited by Activision to participate in the WSOW, although the 12 Call of Duty League teams also have the option to field a team.
After that, it’s up to the open qualifiers to determine the final team. The road to qualify is long and only one team will make it into the main event. Five qualifying events will run between May 24 and 27 to narrow the competition down
What is the Captain’s Cup?
The Captain’s Cup sees a number of Call of Duty veterans draft 10 teams of players to compete across a series of matches. Each captain will choose 10 trios that will then compete across a series of matches.
“Captains will be tasked with drafting a team of trio squads that have been formed prior to the draft. In turn, each captain will have pre-selected two players to form their trio squad,” reads Activision’s official announcement. “Then, each of the five captains will engage in a 9-round live draft via snake draft that is complete when there are five teams of 10 trios (or 30 total players per team).”
Call of Duty: Warzone has been brewing a ton of tournaments
The most popular battle royale in the world has had a ton of tournaments since it launched in March of 2020, with some happening in the near future.
The $100K Nadeshot Invitational is wrapping up its final day on May 19. Eight duos remain in a double elimination bracket, where finishing in first place lands them $30,000. Watch the final day of action on Matt “Nadeshot” Haag’s Twitch channel.
On June 7 and 8, the second iteration of the New York Subliners WarzoneMania tournament goes down with a $100K prize pool. After launching in December 2020, WarzoneMania is back with trios action, where first-place finishers will claim $50,000.
