Dallas Empire were eliminated from the Stage 3 Major by OpTic Chicago on May 15 after not winning a single map.
OpTic Chicago has fallen from grace after they went 2-3 during the Stage 3 groups and landed themselves in the elimination bracket of the Major. That slump did not last long however, as they soon got back on track with their 3-1 victory over the LA Guerrillas during Day 2 of the Major. After surviving to play another day, OpTic Chicago looked calm and collected coming into their match against the Dallas Empire.
Dallas Empire, however, has\ve also not been in their usually-top-three form since replacing Cuyler “Huke” Garland with Tyler “FeLo” Johnson early in the Stage 3 groups. Despite that, they were still able to start in the winners’ bracket of the tournament. Even with an additional defeat needed to eliminate them from the tournament, Dallas Empire continued to struggle together. They failed to win a map against Atlanta FaZe and then failed to win a map against OpTic Chicago. That leaves them exiting the Stage 3 Major 0-6 overall in map count.
OpTic Chicago mop the floor with Dallas Empire
Garrison Hardpoint instantly went the way of OpTic, who were carrying the momentum from yesterday’s victory over the LA Guerrillas. Brandon “Dashy” Otell was running around the map like he was warming up against bots in practice. He finished the match, which went 250-151 in the way of OpTic, 35/13 with a staggering 2.69 KD in respawn.

After the dominant victory on Garrison, Dallas Empire were able to push back against OpTic on the Checkmate Search and Destroy, which went to a round eleven. It was Dylan “Envoy” Hannon pulling the strings for his team on S&D after finishing 12/6 overall. Dallas was unable to close the game out in the end, falling to OpTic Chicago 5-6 to give them a 2-0 lead in the series.
Raid Control was the third and final map of the series, which went in favor of OpTic Chicago. Dallas Empire started out fine in the Control but quickly fell behind to Dashy and Matthew “FormaL” Piper, who was keeping Dallas’ live counts low. While OpTic’s assault rifles were heating up around the map, FeLo and Ian “Crimsix’ Porter were continuing to fall behind. After four rounds of Control, Chicago came out victorious with a 3-1 count on the map and 3-0 sweep in the series.
