The mod community for Cyberpunk 2077 is growing stronger by the day. In late 2020, modders began developing small-time mods for CD Projekt Red’s open-world RPG. These included some performance mods along with some keybind alterations. While these are undoubtedly great quality of life changes, no mod really changed how Cyberpunk 2077 is played. However, a new mod on Nexus Mods completely shifts that narrative. A user on the site recently published a mod that allows players to experience the game in full third-person perspective.

Playing Cyberpunk 2077 in third person

If you’re unfamiliar with modding, it’s essentially a way to improve upon or customize an existing game. Mods usually improve a certain area of a game or make changes so that you can personalize your experience to your liking.

Although, since Cyberpunk 2077 is in its infant stage, no major mods have been developed as of yet. Of course, the new third person mod changes that slightly. Developed by user sarunama and posted to Nexus Mods, the plugin does exactly what you think it would do. You’re able to move the camera to behind your body, allowing you to see a wider shot and your actual body.

If you want to try out this mod, visit the previously linked page on Nexus Mods. Read through the description that the developer posted to fully understand what you need to do. However, you will need to download one other mod on the site, called “Cyber Engine Tweaks.”

Once both of the mods are downloaded, all you need to do is press ‘B’ once in-game. This will let you choose four different third person camera angles to choose from.

If you’ve managed to play with the plugin, you might notice the character animations and overall performance of the game is even worse than before. The developer has stated this mod is still in its early stages, so not every kink is worked out yet. However, with enough time, Cyberpunk 2077 will be fully playable and stable in third person.
