Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One are in luck, as Infinity Ward announced today the season has been extended. Starting in early December, the first season of Modern Warfare has seen some ups and downs in terms of fan reception. Some fans would have liked to see more maps and weapons, but the steady stream of free content was a breath of fresh air. While we originally thought Season Two was beginning in late January, it appears there’s been a delay. Whether this was planned or not is unclear, but Infinity Ward states that Season One will now end on Feb. 11.

Modern Warfare Season One staying for now

One thing that Season One did bring is better communication from Infinity Ward. The studio has promised to improve its methods of speaking to the community. So far, they’re doing a good job of maintaining an open line of communication with fans.

Though it’s unfortunate we’ll have to wait almost another month for a new season, it’s better we know than be surprised later. However, we won’t have to wait for more seasonal content, as Infinity Ward let us know about a new weapon coming to Modern Warfare. Here’s what they had to say in an update blog post:

Over the next few weeks, a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game Challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover. During that time, there will be 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, and get you ready for an exciting Season Two.

Modern Warfare Crossbow
The Crossbow was leaked a while ago by Modern Warfare dataminers.

So, the news isn’t all bad, as the Crossbow should be a refreshing weapon to equip. Also, various amounts of Double XP will be accompanying the new updates, which is always welcomed. We don’t know exactly what other content is coming, but it should be revealed soon.
