Cloud9 has completed the signing of the CSGO roster consisting of former ATK players. After a very unsuccessful run in the 2019 CSGO season, the organization decided it was time to change things up, leading to fresh new faces arriving over from ATK.

ATK roster makes up the new Cloud9 in 2020

The former ATK roster had quite a bit of success in 2019 and has ultimately been a team to keep an eye on. The roster was triumphant at ECS Season 8 North America: Week 2 as well as WESG 2019 North America: US Qualifier. The team’s first huge appearance though was at ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals. They managed to outclass North as well as G2 in the lower bracket of the event but eventually were bested by the winners of the whole event, mousesports. Nevertheless, it was a notable performance, and that may have been the deciding factor for Cloud9 to bring the roster on board.

The newcomers composed of American and South African players on Cloud9 look as follows:

  • Ian “motm” Hardy
  • Ricky “floppy” Kemery
  • Josh “oSee” Ohm
  • Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek
  • Johnny “JT” Theodosiou
  • Tiaan “T.c” Coertzen (coach)

A fresh start in 2020

After an unstable, hectic, and complicated 2019 CSGO season, filled with many roster changes and uncertainties, perhaps now Cloud9 may finally get back to its winning ways. Cloud9 failed to take home a 1st place trophy in the previous season. The team came close to winning ECS Season 8 North America Week 3 in October and also ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational in January, but both events saw the team fall short in the finale.

They will now attempt to qualify for the IEM Katowice at the North American closed qualifier. With only one spot up for grabs, the new Cloud9 roster will have to face the likes of FURIA, MiBR, or Complexity to qualify. This will be the initial test for the fresh NA roster.
