The NA Dota Pro Circuit is entering its final two weeks, and it’s still unclear which teams will be taking the two top spots to qualify for a shot at the next Major. What is clear, however, is that there’s a significant gap between the top three — Evil Geniuses, Team Undying and Quincy Crew — and the rest of the pack. The final two weeks of the North American DPC will have these three teams face off against one another, so here’s a look at the journeys these teams have gone through so far.
NA Dota Pro Circuit race leaders: Evil Geniuses
While it’s a race for the top three, it’s almost assured that Evil Geniuses are guaranteed a spot — most likely for first place in the region. The runners-up of the recent One Esports Singapore Major are set to dominate the region once more. They have yet to drop a game this regular season and look virtually unstoppable going into the final weeks. Evil Geniuses have purely outclassed the teams they’ve faced so far. Their strength comes from their ability to execute game plans flawlessly. They constantly occupying sectors of the map that grant them the highest farm efficiency. The least surprising outcome will be one where Evil Geniuses get first in the regular season.
Quincy Crew and Team Undying
The two teams vying to contest Evil Geniuses’ supremacy are Quincy Crew and Team Undying. Both teams were in the same position at the end of last season, needing to compete one another to make it to the Major. Quincy Crew have remained solid and have not dropped a single game. Their playstyle centering around superstar North American midlaner Quinn “Quinn” Callahan has brought them far this season. In combination with Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos’ pool of unique offlane heroes like Hoodwink, it’ll be exciting to see if they can keep the momentum going until the season’s end.
While both Quincy Crew and Team Undying have kept the same roster throughout 2020, Undying are still the younger of the two; a new squad composed of players from North America, South America and Europe. The team is led by two seasoned veterans — David “Moonmeander” Tan and Kim “Dubu” Doo-Young — who take on the drafting and in-game shot calling. They are supported by up and coming talents Jonathan “Bryle” Santos De Guia and Enzo “Timado” Gianoli O’Connor; who have, last season, proven that they can stand up to the likes of Evil Geniuses and Quincy Crew.
NA DPC race possibilities
Currently, if any of these teams win their next two matches, they’ll be guaranteed a spot at the next Major. In this same scenario, the second place spot will come down to a head-to-head between the two remaining teams. The only other scenario is a tiebreaker between the three tied teams — which happened last season.
