VGC 2020 Series 7 is an exciting format in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The first format with new and returning Pokémon from The Crown Tundra expansion ushers in new strategies and of course new Pokémon.

Here are the five best Pokémon (in no particular order) in the current format along with what makes them so good.

The 5 best Pokémon in VGC 2020 Series 7

Tapu Fini

Pokémon VGC Series 7

Tapu Fini brings a great mix of damage and bulk to your party. It usually takes Muddy Water, Moonblast, Protect, and Calm Mind for its four moves. Muddy Water is a great STAB option that will hit both opponents and possibly lower accuracy. Calm Mind works well to help make Tapu Fini do more damage and resist special attacks.

Regieleki

Simply put, Regieleki is the fastest Pokémon in the game. With a 200 base speed stat, it outspeeds other fast threats like Dragapult and Landorus. It generally takes Electroweb, Thunderbolt, and Volt Switch along with Protect. It doesn’t have much coverage, which is its one major weakness.

Landorus (Therian)

Landorus has been a staple in VGC since its release in gen five. The Flying/Ground-type Pokémon returns to the format in Series 7. Its ability, Intimidate, is great in doubles battles and it has a unique typing that helps it out. It takes Earthquake, Rock Slide, U-Turn, and Fly. Usually, players will Dynamax Landorus to get the Max Airstream from Fly, but it’s not mandatory.

Incineroar

The cat is back with a vengeance after having to sit VGC Series 6 out. This is another Pokémon with Intimidate. Incineroar is bulky with great supportive moves like Snarl, Fake Out, and Parting Shot. It can also take Flare Blitz or Darkest Lariat for a damaging move.

Glastrier

Pokémon Best VGC Series 7

Glastrier is one of the new Legendary Pokémon in The Crown Tundra. It works exceptionally well in Trick Room, with its low base Speed and high Attack. It has good coverage with High Horsepower, Icicle Crash, and Close Combat. You can also take Heavy Slam if you want a Steel-type move. Protect is, of course, also always good. Its ability, Chilling Neigh, helps it out by increasing its Attack after it gets a KO.

Cresselia, Urshifu, Kartana, Galarian Moltres, and Dusclops are also performing well in this series. You can also always use your own personal favorites if you have a plan and execute it well!
