Los Angeles-based esports organization FaZe Clan has introduced 15-year old LeBron “Bronny” James Jr as its newest recruit. Not only is he the son of NBA star LeBron James, but it seems he’s also pretty good at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Fortnite. Bronny James’ new contract follows right after FaZe recruited Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.

FaZe announced the news via its official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon. The post gave a warm welcome to Bronny James and tweeted a photo of him wearing a FaZe sweatshirt. Earlier in the day, the account had teased fans about a new member joining, suggesting “this one is special.”

Additionally, a welcome video followed after the initial announcement. The feature included highlights of Bronny James playing basketball, as well as CoD and Fortnite.

Bronny James, the skilled and influential gamer

Bronny James is a skilled high school basketball player and gamer. He’s received plenty of scholarship offers, and, being the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, already has connections in the industry. His new contract with FaZe Clan is just the beginning of his career in esports, as he’s also played with other FaZe members in the past.

Fans had mixed reactions to “FaZe Bronny” joining the organization. Some Twitter users were less-than-impressed with Bronny James’ gaming skills, while others speculated that he was signed because of his celebrity status. Regardless, Bronny James has enough experience streaming Fortnite, Warzone, and NBA 2K to his 327 thousand Twitch followers. Although he has only signed to be a content creator, it could be a possibility that he may competitively join a team in the future.
