Gaming streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney’s lawsuit against the FaZe Clan has come to an end. Both parties have evidently settled outside of court. What that agreement is, however, we do not know. Neither party has disclosed what the settlement entails.
In May 2019, Tfue announced he was suing the FaZe Clan due to an “oppressive contract” that he alleged restricted his business opportunities. He also claimed that the organization took roughly 80% of his earnings. Both parties then moved back and forth between their respective cases in both California and New York. When a California judge dismissed most of the claims in the lawsuit, it seemed it was all up to the court in New York to settle this matter once and for all.
According to Forbes, however, both parties have announced that they settled the matter. The only part of the agreement we do know is that Fortnite streamer Tfue is on his own.
“FaZe and Turner Tenney (Tfue) are pleased to announce they have resolved their disputes and settled their litigations,” an email from their legal teams stated. “The parties wish one another the best of luck in future endeavors.”
What’s next for Tfue?
While the dispute was going on, Tfue continued to stream via Twitch and build his brand. He never discussed during this time what his plans would be once the lawsuit was over, most likely because he either wasn’t allowed to (court stipulation) or he didn’t want to burn any future bridges. He will continue his Twitch streaming regardless of what comes next. It’s possible other esports organizations are ready to snap him up as well. But the young streamer hasn’t said as of yet which way he plans to go.
What will be more interesting is if we see other big-name lawsuits between popular gamers and large esports sponsors. This type of lawsuit between FaZe Clan and Tfue certainly won’t be the last.
