Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone will officially release Season 5 on Wednesday, August 5. The announcement came over the weekend from Activision but was no real surprise to the community. While that may not have been a shock, what could be is the content that will arrive with Season 5. As of right now, we don’t know much other than the Stadium in Warzone will open thanks to a nuclear bomb. In terms of weapons though, there are hints that the AN-94 and APC9 could debut later in the week, but we also have actual gameplay of the R700 sniper rifle. So, it’s anybody’s guess at this point.

Gameplay of R700 in Modern Warfare surfaces

Up until this point, the R700 sniper was simply a weapon that was floating around the game files. Data-miners uncovered evidence of the weapon a couple of months ago and assumed it would arrive with Season 4 or 5.

Of course, it didn’t debut in Season 4, so the natural line of thinking says it will arrive in Season 5. However, we already have official proof that the AN-94 and APC9 are planned for Season 5. So, where does this leave the R700? Well, if this leaked gameplay is accurate, it seems likely that the R700 is ready for launch.

According to the leaker, the R700 is mostly ready. However, there are still some adjustments that need to be made, so this could mean the R700 is planned for mid-Season 5. This isn’t an abnormal practice by Activision, as the publishers tend to release content halfway through each season of Modern Warfare and Warzone.

If the R700 is releasing, it would need to happen soon. The next Call of Duty title is set to release in a few months and Modern Warfare content won’t be as hyped as it is now. It appears all signs are pointing to the R700 sniper to be a mid-Season 5 release.
