Valorant has announced a closed beta region expansion. The closed beta will now be available in South Korea, Brazil, and most of Latin America starting May 5.
As Valorant’s closed beta approaches its first month live, players across the globe continue to await access. There are currently only select regions in which you can play Valorant, including Canada, the United States, Europe, Russia, and Turkey. These regions have had access to the closed beta since April 7, and now Riot Games is expanding the regions.

Valorant expands its closed beta regions
Valorant released a video featuring Anna “SuperCakes” Donlon, executive producer for Valorant, on the expansion of regions. In the video, she discusses the overwhelming support that they have received over the past weeks. She also touches on which regions they will be expanding to and the cities the servers will be in, “with data centers going live in Seoul, Santiago, and São Paulo.”
SuperCakes follows this up with why Mexico won’t be on the Valorant expansion list just yet. “As for Mexico City, we want to get you into this closed beta so badly. But this is where we have hit most of our infrastructure delays. So while we might not get you in exactly on the 5th, we will be getting you in as soon as we can.”
What about other regions?
According to SuperCakes, other regions such as Japan, Oceania, and the greater Middle East will have to wait a bit longer. She says she understands not wanting to wait longer during these times but hopes players will bear with the team.
Valorant developers are still aiming for a summer 2020 release for the game. They haven’t specified what month of summer we will see a full release, but they assure us that it’s coming. Along with the expansion of regions, SuperCakes also touched on the internet issues that the world is experiencing. “ISPs (internet service providers) are finding themselves having to juggle who gets routed where. So we are actively troubleshooting how this may be impacting your games.” Overall, SuperCakes stresses that Riot Games has a plan for all obstacles that come its way. They also understand that other regions want to be a part of the beta too, and they are actively working to add them.
