Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís has joined Spacestation Gaming as a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player. Spacestation Gaming announced his addition to the team on Feb. 19.
Recently, the Smash scene has experienced a string of top player sponsorships for Melee. Now, the sponsorship love is spreading to Smash Ultimate with Spacestation Gaming’s acquisition of Maister. Ranked No. 6 in the world, Maister was previously the highest-ranked free agent in Ultimate. That title now belongs to Takuma “Tea” Hirooka, who is ranked No. 12.

Previously, Spacestation Gaming had made its foray into competitive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate by signing David “LeoN” Leon. The organization also boasts teams in a slew of other esports titles. These include Rocket League, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, Smite, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, and TrackMania.

Spacestation Gaming is the first organization to sign Maister since he parted ways with Nevermore in December 2019. Maister is notable as Smash Ultimate’s premier Mr. Game & Watch main (to the disdain of many of his opponents). In addition, he is the second-best player in Mexico, behind Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez.
Maister achieved moderate success in Smash 4 as a low-tier hero, finishing as No. 81 on the PGR 100. He had a similarly modest start to Ultimate, missing the top 50 season one despite a handful of solid results.
However, Maister’s results improved significantly beginning in the Fall 2019 PGR season. His placements included 3rd at 2GG: Kongo Saga and The Big House 9, 4th at Smash Ultimate Summit 2, and 5th at Super Smash Con 2019. All the while, he never placed below 17th at a major tournament. Maister had wins over the likes of Ezra Samsora Morris, Sota “Zackray” Okada, Paris “Light” Ramirez, and Shuto “Shuton” Moriya.
2020 has been a bit of a mixed bag thus far for Spacestation Gaming’s Maister. However, he notably placed in the top 8 of both Let’s Make Big Moves and Genesis 7. Between these two events, Maister has wins over Samsora, William “Glutonny” Belaid, and Rasheen “Dark Wizzy” Rose.
