The Philadelphia Fusion has extended its existing partnership with North Carolina global network infrastructure provider CommScope. The Overwatch League franchise has also established a new partnership with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, which will see the latter becoming the official medical provider of the team.

There are millions of esports fans around the world and in nearly everyone’s homes,” said Danah Ditzig, VP of Corporate Communications and Brand Marketing for CommScope, in a release. “I can’t think of a better fit to show how networks empower experiences, connect people all over the world, and demand peak performance from the connectivity inside our homes, universities, and stadiums.”
The Philadelphia Fusion began the deal with equipment manufacturer Arris International in January of 2019. However, Arris was later acquired by CommScope for $7.4 billion. As such, the Philadelphia Fusion team jerseys will feature CommScope’s branding where the previous Arris logo was placed.
Promoting healthy habits in gaming
“To be competitive at the highest level of esports, our players need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevent injury wherever possible,” said Tucker Roberts, President of Spectator Gaming and Philadelphia Fusion. “Our partnership with Rothman Orthopaedics provides our players with the best medical treatment and helps them optimize their performance.”
The Philadelphia Fusion has also partnered with musculoskeletal treatment provider Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. Through this deal, the team’s esports players will be monitored by a team of physicians that includes Dr. Bradley Smith, Dr. Edward Rosero, and Dr. Robert Franks. Since gamers have to practice 10-12 hours a day, pain often arises relating to their muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and nerves.
This partnership will see the institute promoting healthy habits within gaming and esports. The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute will be a sponsor of the upcoming Fusion Arena in Philadelphia, with its signage throughout the arena. A “Hometown Hero Award” will also be presented at all homestand matches during the 2020 – 2021 seasons.
