The Pittsburgh Knights have just announced that they will compete in the Gears 5 Pro League. This league features the Gears 5 game, which was developed by The Coalition. Based in Vancouver, the game development studio is also known for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Gears of War 4.

The new Pittsburgh Knights roster of esports players includes Carlos “Monkyz” Mingues, Daniel “Identivez” Santillana, Hector “Dezonide” Compean, Reynaldo “ChaoZ” Tosado, and Rogelio “Sleeafer” Rojo. Carlos “Demize” Betencourt will serve as the team’s coach. Including Demize, the Gears 5 Pro League roster is entirely made up of players from Ghost Gaming.

“This team has a hunger and a thirst to become the best team in Gears,” Garett Bambrough, the Pittsburgh Knights’ esports consultant, said. “They’re going to be exciting to watch this year.”

Each player will bring their own set of skills to the Pittsburgh Knights. For instance, Identivez took home the gold in the 2018 Gears of War 4 Las Vegas Open. Meanwhile, Dezonide is known for his multiple wins at Gears of War regional events. As for Monkyz, coach Demize noted that he is “arguably the most clutch player Gears as [sic] ever seen.” Monkyz himself said that he is really motivated and excited about the future.

Sleeafer, who is known for his skills with the Markza rifle, shared similar sentiments. He said that he’s ready to show Pittsburgh what the team is made of.

Meanwhile, ChaoZ will bring his own unique and methodical playstyle to the team. “This is the happiest I’ve been in a while,” he said. “This new change will fuel our fire. We’re coming stronger than ever for that trophy.”

The Pittsburgh Knights’ Gears 5 Pro League team is scheduled to compete in the Gears 5 Pro League Winter Quarter on Jan. 27. Esports fans can catch all the action over on Twitch beginning that day at 7:00 p.m. ET.
