The longest season in Fortnite appears to have received a new extension from Epic Games. According to leaks, the end date for Chapter 2 Season 1 has reportedly been pushed from Feb. 6 until Feb. 20. This would mark yet another delay for Season 2 by Epic, yet no one knows why Fortnite isn’t transitioning into a new season.
It stands to reason that the developers simply don’t have everything ready for Season 2, but this does seem odd, as they’ve had nearly 4 months of Season 1 to prepare. The second chapter of Fortnite began on Oct. 15, giving players over 100 days in this season. Epic Games has yet to comment on the matter.

At this point, even the most diehard fans are beginning to grow sick of Season 1. Fortnite made its name off fresh content and in-game events, and Season 1 has been severely lacking in those areas. Fans keep coming back to the game because of the new weapons, map changes, and new seasons. However, Season 1 seems like it will never end.
Now, according to multiple data-miners, Epic Games has changed the season’s end date from Feb. 6 to Feb. 20 in Fortnite‘s files. While not official, this is likely as close to a confirmation as we’ll see for now. Leakers @HYPEX and @ShiinaBR give us the scoop.

As you can see from their reactions, this is not a happy leak. The Fortnite community is also not thrilled about the delay, as most are beyond ready for a change of pace. It now seems we’ll have to wait another full month or so to see a new Battle Pass, new map locations, and a new season as a whole.
Of course, these are just leaks, so take everything with a grain of salt. Epic Games could still reverse course before the month is up, though it is unlikely.
